Our factory located in Lier, Belgium has a long history. In 1929 the Standard Drum and Barrel Company was located here.
Later that name was changed into Usiness Standard. Van Leer took over this factory in 1934.
In that time, cylinders for liquid gas were manufactured and reconditioned (since 1965), later also stationary tanks for domestic and industrial use.
Already in the eighties, the factory noticed serious consequences of less orders in Gas bottles and tanks. This production ended in 1995.
During that time, 200Litre drums were already manufactured, which appeared to be a growing market.
In 1998 Van Leer started the production of 200-liter plastic drums according the Valérex® process. In 2002, even a second line became operational.
In 2001, Van Leer Industrial Packaging was taken over by the American company Greif, and in 2002 the name Van Leer did no longer exist.
The production of Large Steel- and plastic drums provides employment for 90 people.
